The Association celebrated its 50th Anniversary on 30 June 2006, as part of its national Jack Tizard Day Conference. Attended by almost 300 members, the official launch was delivered by Emeritus Professor Barbara Tizard, wife of the late Jack Tizard and Professor Sheila Hollins, President of the Royal College of Psychiatrists.

This memorable occasion re-captured the spirit which had defined the early years of the Association's development as it emerged from a London-based group of professionals to an inter-disciplinary membership organisation of 2500, spread throughout the UK and increasingly around the world. The successes and achievements over the years were celebrated and the wider context of ACAMH's work in terms of child and adolescent mental health were highlighted, in particular its contribution to the advancement of the associated disciplines and the role played by its publications in bringing the latest research to the fore-front of clinical and academic awareness.

The 50th celebrations concluded with an anniversary dinner, to thank past honorary officers for their hard work and contributions over the years. The after-dinner speech was delivered by Prof Philip Graham and was followed by a vote of thanks from the Association's Chair, Prof Patricia Howlin - a fitting tribute to all those who had given and continue to give their time to the Association.
