Child and Adolescent Learning Disabilities

The Association for Child and Adolescent Mental Health

is pleased to highlight its first Conference of 2011, which has been given the very important theme of

CHILD AND ADOLESCENT LEARNING DISABILITIES:

service perspectives, innovations and developments

Hosted by ACAMH

National and Local Levels, and Special Interest Group

in collaboration with leading child and adolescent learning disability organisations:

British Psychological Society (Child Learning Disability and Developmental Disability Network)

Child and Adolescent Learning Disability Psychiatry Network

A full-day conference providing a timely and targeted update on new and emerging developments

There can be no underestimating the importance of learning disabilities in the context of child and adolescent mental health, where there are an estimated 55,000-75,000 children with moderate or severe learning disabilities and an estimated 65,000 with severe and profound learning disabilities (in England alone) and where children and young people with learning disabilities are six times more likely to have mental health problems than other young people.

Featuring as Keynote Presenter, international specialist and recognised leading researcher Chris Oliver, Professor of Neurodevelopmental Disorders at the University of Birmingham, the conference's focus is further consolidated and enhanced through presentations by key contributors engaged with advancing this valuable area of work. The day will gather together the main issues in a comprehensive and balanced programme covering recent developments, international, national and local approaches and initiatives, practical innovations and research, as well as clinical perspectives.

Of wide relevance to all those, whatever their discipline, involved with children and young people affected by learning disabilities, this conference promises to be of immense value, offering a comprehensive overview of the area and a host of practical tips and applicable messages.

Don't miss out on this opportunity to listen to and learn from the leading child and adolescent learning disabilities experts and the combined and specialist expertise of the host organiser and collaborators.

Fees: £55 for members of ACAMH, BPS SIG and CALDPN ; £65 for non-members
